The Silver Age
Phyllis Coates stars as Lois Lane in the first twenty-six dramatic episodes of The Adventures of Superman TV series, which first airs in 1951. Her Lois is tougher than Noel Neill's. In this scene with George Reeves from the first episode, "Superman on Earth," Clark Kent has just been hired after "scooping" the more experienced Daily Planet reporter, Lois, in the paper's first story about Metropolis's new hero, Superman. (In 1994 Ms. Coates is cast as Lois's mother for the Lois & Clark first season finale episode about Lois's almost marriage to Lex Luthor.)
